The Rummage Room holds a sale in the lower Parish Hall on the last Saturday of the month, from September to May - except for December.  We accept donations of the following: clean, gently used indoor and outdoor clothing, shoes, boots, small kitchen items, dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, small appliances, books, jewelry, brooches, pins, games, DVDs, puzzles, purses, belts, backpacks, bedding, home decor, seasonal decor and knickknacks.
Donations come in during the month, and the Thursday morning prior to the sale (0915-1145), we come together and sort the donations.  Many donors fill a bag with a few books, some clothing and perhaps some home decor items.  Each bag is opened and sorted - clothing hung on the clothing racks or folded, books sorted and items displayed. Every donation helps! The lower parish hall is set up ready for the sale.
The Saturday morning of the sale, the volunteers begin to arrive around 0800.  Doors open to the public at 0900 and the sale ends at 1200.
We need volunteers on the Thursday mornings prior to the sale to help sort all the donations. We also need volunteers on the Saturday morning of the sale to assist the clients and keep the areas tidy - sweaters and T-shirts always need folding!  There is no heavy lifting involved. Training is provided.
This is a service to our community.  Many of the clients look forward to finding their seasonal wardrobe, latest treasure or to pick up books and games to entertain their children.  This is a service to our parish.  The sales bring in anywhere from $500-$800 per month for the church. If you have the time, this could be an awesome use of your talents.
